1. Do what you can (Luke 4:38)
2. As soon as you can (Luke 4:39; Matthew 12:11-12; Mark 3:4-5)
3. Love people inconveniently (Luke 4:40-41)
Luke 4:38
38 After leaving the synagogue that day, Jesus went to Simon's home, where
he found Simon's mother-in-law very sick with a high fever. "Please heal
her," everyone begged.
Luke 4:39
39 Standing at her bedside, he rebuked the fever, and it left her. And she
got up at once and prepared a meal for them.
Matthew 12:11-12 (Scripture)
12 If you had a sheep that fell into a well on the Sabbath, wouldn't you
work to pull it out? Of course you would. 12 And how much more valuable is
a person than a sheep! Yes, the law permits a person to do good on the
Sabbath.
Mark 3:4-5
4 Then he turned to his critics and asked, "Does the law permit good deeds
on the Sabbath, or is it a day for doing evil? Is this a day to save life
or to destroy it?" But they wouldn't answer him. 5 He looked around at them
angrily and was deeply saddened by their hard hearts.
Luke 4:40-41
40 As the sun went down that evening, people throughout the village brought
sick family members to Jesus. No matter what their diseases were, the touch
of his hand healed every one. 41 Many were possessed by demons; and the
demons came out at his command, shouting, "You are the Son of God!" But
because they knew he was the Messiah, he rebuked them and refused to let
them speak.

I want neither a terrorist spirituality that keeps me in a perpetual state
of fright about being in right relationship with my heavenly Father nor a
sappy spirituality that portrays God as such a benign teddy bear that there
is no aberrant behavior or desire of mine that he will not condone. I want
a relationship with the Abba of Jesus, who is infinitely compassionate with
my brokenness and at the same time an awesome, incomprehensible, and
unwieldy Mystery. - *Ruthless Trust: The Ragamuffin's Path to God*, p.107
