• WE ARE PLANNING TO REMAIN OPEN JANUARY 23 AND FOLLOWING @ 9:30am but remain under the state of Ohio mask mandate. Which means everyone at church 10 years of age and older must wear a face covering of some kind (free and available at the doors) except officiants in a religious service, those with a medical condition or disability and those communicating with someone with a disability. The church has been cleaned and signs posted. Some pews will not be available. Hand sanitizer is available at the doors. If you're not sick, immuno-compromised, previously exposed to Covid 19, and are willing to follow these recommendations, you're welcome to join us!
• BUT IF LUCAS COUNTY GOES PURPLE we will once again close all in person services (including children's Sabbath schools) and go back online. So call the church office (419-882-6200), check the Ohio Public Health Advisory site, church website, or Facebook page BEFORE you leave for church this week and in the future. Only tech team and participants leading worship are invited to church if / when Lucas County goes / remains purple to help us stream worship via Facebook Live, Church Website, and Church Roku Channel.
• BIG THANK YOU to those able to attend Tuesday evening's church business meeting. We discussed evangelistic plans for 2021 and approved a TJA preliminary 2021-2022 budget and Toledo First 2021 church budget. We are considering church sanctuary availability for member's weddings on a "whatever you can afford" donation basis (while explaining what it actually costs to heat / cool), helping Shahzad Masih (a graduate of Pakistan Adventist Seminary and College) buy some land to build a school, tuition assistance for Toledo First students attending Adventist and non-Adventist schools, and using memorial funds for trees. Since these last two items involve designated funds, we will not be voting on changing the parameters of their use until our next business meeting TUE MAR 16, 2021 so make plans to attend if you want your voice to be heard.
• APOCALYPSE OF HOPE PROPHECY SEMINAR POSTPONED TO SPRING 2022 Hopefully, by April 15, 2022 - May 14, 2022 enough of NW Ohio will be vaccinated and interested in attending these Christocentric grace based hope filled meetings.
• PREPARING FOR ADOLESCENCE We listened and discussed all the topics in this book / audiobook with both our son and daughter before they became teens. Topics include avoiding feelings of inferiority, handling peer pressure, drug abuse, puberty, sexual development, menstruation, masturbation, romantic love, overcoming discouragement, sound decision-making, and handling independence. Please do not be too shy to discuss these things. Highly recommend Preparing for Adolescence.
• ANOTHER DINOSAUR FOSSIL WITH SOFT TISSUE The remains of an "180 million-year-old" ichthyosaur (literally ‘fish-lizard’) have been analysed, and the fossil is so well-preserved that its soft-tissues retain some of their original pliability! Perhaps it is time, as my friend Bob Helm says (moderator of the Young Biosphere Creation group on Facebook), to follow the lead of both soft tissue and carbon 14 evidence and redate these fossils to thousands of years before present, as the Bible's flood geology indicates.

• QUESTIONS ON DIET AND FOODS SERIES CONTINUES JAN 23 Researchers at Yale University found that when people have a choice in their medical treatment, they respond better to it (Creation Health, p7). Following God is the same way. Join us as we learn life hacks from our Creator, Sanctifier, and Redeemer about what we should be putting in our body, how it affects our relationship with Jesus, and why it's never too late to begin implementing small changes that will yield big results. • VESPERS CONTINUES JAN 23 at 5pm and continues Sabbath evenings until February 27. The video Bible story series, “Chosen” will be shown and discussed in the sanctuary.

• BIBLE READING CHALLENGE Every year beloved Adventist pastor HMS Richards used to read the Bible twice a year. Once very quickly from Genesis to Revelation in the month of January and again more slowly FEB - DEC. Many familiar with listening to audiobooks know that some programs and apps have a ‘listening speed’ feature – allowing “reading” to be done at up to twice the speed. But even so, to keep up with a project like this, many of the regular forms of “entertainment” we consume each day will need to be replaced by your Bible reading. A good thing! • CHILDREN'S SABBATH SCHOOLS Cradle Roll (0-2) and Kindergarten (3-6) meets in the school (but will be canceled if Lucas County goes purple). Primary (7-9) meets in the fellowship hall, and teachers request that all children wear masks if able to. Juniors (10-12) will meet in their usual classroom at the same time in the daycare area and Youth (13+) will continue meeting in the Youth room. Singspiration for all ages remains in sanctuary and begins at 9:30am.

  • Take vitamin D3 supplements and try to get some daily Sunshine
  • Temperance means abstaining from that which is harmful and moderation in that which is good
  • Fresh Air especially at night if possible through open windows; implement and practice daily deep breathing exercises
  • Rest. Not just on Sabbath but shutting off screens earlier to get 8 hours of sleep too
  • Time with God. Not just on Sabbath but at the beginning and end of every day

• ELLEN WHITE WEBSITE The internet is a blessing and a curse. One blessing comes in the form of a new website sharing balanced Seventh-day Adventist explanations of Ellen White and the 25 million words, 100k pages, and 49 books she wrote with a third grade education during her lifetime. The curse comes from the myriad of sites sharing inaccurate or intentionally misleading conclusions regarding her ministry. Whether others find her writings helpful or not, shouldn't one make that decision on reputable sources? One of my favorite quotes from her pen is: "Truth can afford to be fair."
• ELLEN WHITE WEB SITE STATS During the week of Thanksgiving 2020, 1.25 million visitors viewed 2.7 million pages and made 46 million search queries on EGW Writings websites and apps. Users downloaded 650 Terabytes of data from 7.2 million Audiobook and book download requests. Servers delivered a staggering 2.5 Petabytes of data to 27 million global user requests in November 2020. Compare this to November 2016 when only 7,500 weekly visitors and served just 45GB of data. Yes, online access to Ellen White’s writings has grown to an almost unbelievable level. In 2021, they're working to add new languages and better quality audio books. • DO YOU KNOW HOW YOUR TITHE DOLLARS ARE DISTRIBUTED? By far the largest portion of tithes in the North American Division (NAD) stays locally. For example, this is how a $100 portion of tithes are distributed in the NAD (based on 2018 figures). $66 stays in the local conference (Ohio for us); $10 goes to Defined Benefit Retirement; $9 goes to the Union Conference (Columbia Union Conference for us); $9.15 goes to the NAD; $5.85 goes to the General Conference.
